Reflection in Gratitude

On July 3rd of the year 2022, my husband, two dogs and I drove into New York City, wide-eyed, full of hopes and yes, scared too. I knew I had friends here, I knew there was community here, but it wasn’t just me that needed some anchors for grounding myself here. Ulises and I adjusted and grew so much together, and a huge part of why I have survived is my north star; theatre.

Upon my return to the city, dear friends invited me to join in on several projects which was so nice. Special shout out to Orlando F. Rodriguez, one of my favorite people to do theatre with and has been for almost 20 years (hard to believe!) He helped me get my momentum going and for some time, I was able to focus my attention on only auditioning. But it was still hard. I didn’t get many roles that I really wanted, but alas, an actor’s job is auditioning so I kept at it.

Thankfully, to this day, a year and some days later, I can say I have been a part of at least 11 productions/readings/events in the last year which was honestly one of my goals upon returning to the city. That’s almost a production a month. And I am still employed at Teatro SEA, playing El Lobo for the upcoming season and who knows what else… Plus other projects I’m auditioning for.

Here’s to year two. Bigger, badder, BOLDER.
